Scrap Tire Debeaded and Shredder Machinery

Scrap tires contain high-strength steel wire structures, particularly in the bead area, where the wire density is high. Feeding them directly into a shredder not only accelerates blade wear but can also compromise shredding efficiency. Consequently, removing the bead wire is a crucial pre-processing step in the tire recycling workflow.

The scrap tire debeading machine is primarily designed to cut or pull out the bead wires from both sides of the tire. Using a hydraulic pulling mechanism or a mechanical clamping structure, the machine completely separates the steel wires embedded in the rubber. Debeaded tires are easier to process in the subsequent shredding stage, and the recovered steel wire holds significant value for reprocessing as scrap metal.

The equipment offers adaptability across various tire specifications—including passenger car, truck, and OTR (off-the-road) tires—by allowing operational parameters to be adjusted based on tire size. Compared to manual removal, mechanical debeading reduces labor intensity and ensures consistent processing efficiency.

Continuous Shredding Process

After debeading, the tires enter the shredder for primary size reduction. Tire shredders typically employ a dual-shaft shearing design; low-speed, high-torque rotating cutter shafts slice through the tires, breaking large tires down into rubber chunks measuring a few tens of millimeters.

Dual-shaft shredders excel at handling high-strength materials and can process whole tires, cut tire sections, and pre-processed rubber chunks. In practical production, equipment configuration is determined by target throughput, tire type, and downstream processing requirements; for instance, the particle size required for tire-derived fuel (TDF) differs from that needed for rubber granules.

Shredded material usually undergoes magnetic separation to remove residual steel wire, followed by screening and further grinding to produce rubber granules or powder of various specifications.

Modular Production Lines for Diverse Recycling Needs

A complete scrap tire pre-processing system typically comprises a debeading machine, a tire shredder, conveyors, a magnetic separator, and a control system. Depending on the processing scale, the equipment can operate as standalone units or be linked to form a continuous production line.

In tire recycling, an optimal equipment configuration is more critical than simply increasing shredding speed. Removing the bead wire beforehand reduces equipment load and extends tool service life, while also facilitating the subsequent sorting and recycling of steel wire, rubber, and fiber materials.
